A refined Austrian Secessionist stool dating to the late 1910s or early 1920s, fully restored and reupholstered by FORME, preserving its original character while introducing a contemporary tactile finish.
Executed in solid walnut, the structure is defined by a rigorous geometric clarity typical of the Viennese Secession, softened by subtle curvature in the legs. The four legs, slightly tapered and gently flared outward, create a sense of lightness and stability, while the connecting stretchers form a clean architectural framework that reinforces the structure and enhances its balanced proportions.
The seat has been newly upholstered in a melange bouclé fabric by Dedar Milano, offering a rich, textured surface that contrasts elegantly with the warm tone and natural grain of the wood. The soft, irregular texture of the bouclé adds depth and a contemporary sensibility to the piece without compromising its historical integrity.
Particular attention has been given to the preservation of the original construction: the underside retains its original spring system, visible from the base, along with the original label, serving as a testament to its authenticity and early 20th-century manufacture.
The result is a piece that bridges past and present — a disciplined yet expressive example of Austrian Secession design, thoughtfully updated for modern interiors.
