A beautiful pair of CAB 413 armchairs designed by Mario Bellini for Cassina, presented in their original cognac saddle leather with an extraordinary, richly developed patina.

Designed in the late 1970s, the CAB series remains one of Bellini’s most celebrated achievements and a landmark of Italian furniture design. Its construction was highly innovative: a self-supporting leather “skin” is precisely cut, stitched, and zipped over an internal steel frame, allowing the upholstery to become both the structural and expressive identity of the chair.

This pair retains its original leather throughout. Over the decades, the cognac surface has acquired remarkable tonal depth, with darker areas, natural variations, softened edges, creases, marks, and traces of use distributed across the seats, backs, and armrests. The result is a warm and beautifully layered surface that could never be recreated artificially.

These are chairs for true lovers of authentic vintage patina. Their character comes precisely from the visible history of the leather: every variation contributes to the individuality and sculptural presence of the pair.

Despite the pronounced patina, there are no tears, holes, or structural breaks to report. The leather remains supple, the stitching is intact, and both chairs are solid and stable. They have been carefully cleaned and conditioned with natural wax to nourish the leather while preserving its original appearance and history.

The underside retains the original Cassina markings, including the impressed “P-9 Cassina” stamp and the molded Cassina signature.
