“EIDOS” Bench by FORME, Handcrafted Cherrywood Bedroom Bench with COM Option

Designed and handcrafted by FORME, the EIDOS bench is a contemporary interpretation of Italian Art Deco and mid-century design, combining the architectural refinement of the 1930s and 1940s with the lighter proportions and functional clarity associated with postwar Italian furniture.

Its design draws inspiration from the sophisticated language of masters such as Paolo Buffa and Gio Ponti, without reproducing a historical model. Instead, EIDOS reinterprets their attention to proportion, rhythm and craftsmanship through a distinctly contemporary perspective.

Every element has been conceived to create a sense of visual lightness while maintaining excellent structural stability. The solid cherrywood frame flows continuously into the finely proportioned legs through softly rounded corners, while the open side panels are defined by delicate hand-crafted cross-bracing. These geometric details introduce an Art Deco note, balanced by the clean silhouette and restrained elegance of Italian mid-century design.

The layered profile running along the frame further emphasizes the architectural character of the bench, creating subtle lines of shadow and depth. Its composition is elegant from every angle, making EIDOS equally suitable for the foot of a bed, an entrance hall, a dressing room or a refined hospitality interior.

Each bench is entirely handcrafted in our Italian atelier from carefully selected solid cherrywood. Once assembled, every wooden element is individually polished and traditionally finished by hand with multiple coats of shellac. This time-honored process enhances the warmth, depth and natural movement of the grain, giving the surface a soft, luminous finish that cannot be replicated through industrial lacquering.

The generously proportioned seat is constructed with premium triple-density high-resilience foam, selected to provide maximum comfort, long-term support and a refined profile that retains its shape over time.

The launch edition shown here is upholstered in an elegant off-white finely ribbed velvet. Its subtle linear texture introduces a tactile contrast to the polished cherrywood while preserving the quiet, sophisticated character of the design.

Every EIDOS bench is produced to order and can be fully customized. Clients may supply their own COM, Customer’s Own Material, with a fabric requirement of approximately one and half meter per bench.

The dimensions may be adapted upon request, allowing the bench to be tailored to the proportions and functional requirements of individual residential, hospitality or interior-design projects.

The photographed launch model is currently available from stock for immediate delivery. Made-to-order production requires approximately 4–6 weeks from confirmation of the order. This timeframe includes the handcrafted construction, polishing, traditional shellac finishing, upholstery and final quality inspection.
