Pair of Glass and Brass Wall Lights by Carl Fagerlund for Orrefors, 1970s

A striking pair of sculptural wall lights designed by Carl Fagerlund for Orrefors in the 1970s, featuring richly textured clear glass shades mounted on warm, patinated brass backplates. Each sconce showcases the refined elegance and craftsmanship for which Fagerlund and the Swedish glassworks of Orrefors are celebrated.

The thick, ice-like glass diffusers display an extraordinary organic relief pattern, capturing and refracting light in a beautifully atmospheric way. When illuminated, they emit a warm, golden glow that enhances the depth and complexity of the glass.

One of the most charming and distinctive features of this design is the pair of small, star-shaped brass pins that secure each glass shade to its backplate. These “starry” buttons are not merely functional: they add a subtle decorative accent, perfectly in keeping with Fagerlund’s poetic approach to detail and proportion.

The gently curved brass backplates present a rich, natural patina, offering a warm contrast to the crisp transparency of the glass while underlining the timeless Scandinavian aesthetic.
