A rare and exceptionally atmospheric pair of wall sconces designed by Archimede Seguso for Seguso Vetri d’Arte during the 1940s, embodying the poetic experimentation that made the Murano master one of the defining figures of post-war Italian glassmaking.
Each sconce is crowned by a beautifully hand-blown Murano glass shade of generous proportions, worked with a deeply hammered surface that continuously refracts and distorts the light. The subtle smoke-amber tint is enriched by a remarkable iridescent finish, creating delicate reflections that shift from gold to pink, violet and turquoise depending on the viewing angle and ambient light. Illuminated, the glass comes alive with extraordinary depth, projecting a soft, almost liquid glow that transforms the surrounding wall into an ever-changing composition of light and color.
The sculptural shades are elegantly balanced by minimalist burnished brass supports, whose restrained geometry allows the richness of the handcrafted glass to remain the undisputed focal point. The contrast between the understated metalwork and the luminous Murano glass creates an aesthetic that feels both timeless and unmistakably Italian.
Every shade displays the subtle irregularities, optical movement and organic character that distinguish authentic hand-blown Seguso production. The interplay between the hammered texture and the iridescent surface gives each piece a unique personality while maintaining perfect harmony as a pair.
The sconces have been professionally rewired for immediate use in the United States and are fitted with standard Edison E26 sockets. Upon request, they can also be professionally rewired for European electrical standards before shipment.
An exceptional and highly decorative pair, equally suited to refined residential interiors, luxury hospitality projects or discerning collectors of twentieth-century Italian lighting.
