A pair of hand-formed vases by Italian ceramist Pietro Melandri, crafted in Faenza in the 1960s. Each vase is completely unique in its form and glazing, exemplifying the organic spontaneity and artistic flair of postwar Italian studio pottery.
Both pieces are signed Melandri Faenza on the base and feature rich, vibrant glazes in earthy ochres, siennas, and deep greens, with the addition of flowing red accents on one piece.
The surfaces are animated by irregular textures and dripping glazes that celebrate the unpredictability of fire and material, emphasizing the artist’s intuitive approach to form.
