Sculptural and highly distinctive, this rare three-arm candelabra—designed by Klaus Ullrich for Faber & Schumacher—captures the refined elegance and expressive fluidity of mid-century modern design.
Executed in patinated brass, the piece is conceived as a continuous, flowing form. From a central base, two elongated arms extend outward in a sweeping, wing-like gesture, while a third candle holder rises vertically at the center, creating a perfectly balanced tripartite composition.
The silhouette is dynamic yet controlled: the structure curves and tapers with remarkable precision, as clearly visible in the side views, where the arms appear to stretch almost organically before resolving into shallow, dish-like candle trays. Each of the three plates is gently concave, designed to catch wax while maintaining a clean, minimal profile.
At the center of each tray, a sharply defined conical spike anchors the candle—an elegant and graphic detail that reinforces the piece’s sculptural identity.
The surface presents a rich, warm patina with nuanced tonal variations ranging from deep brown to golden highlights. As shown in the close-ups, the brass bears light wear, surface marks, and subtle oxidation consistent with age, enhancing the object’s authenticity and visual depth.
The underside and joints reveal a refined construction, with smooth transitions between elements that emphasize the sense of a single, continuous gesture rather than an assembled object.
There is a striking tension between horizontality and lift: the outer arms seem to float, while the central support grounds the composition—resulting in a piece that feels both light and architectural.
An uncommon and highly decorative object, equally suited as a functional candle holder or as a sculptural centerpiece.
