A powerful example of Italian craftsmanship from the 1970s, this sculptural bench is carved from solid walnut and conceived as a pure architectural volume. Reduced to its essential geometry, the design is defined by strong, rectilinear lines and a striking sense of mass, balanced by the warmth and depth of the wood grain.
The bench is composed of thick walnut planks expertly joined, creating a monolithic presence that feels both minimal and deeply tactile. The natural variations in the walnut — visible in the subtle shifts of tone, grain, and patina — enhance its sculptural quality and testify to the authenticity of the material and the hand of the maker.
Although the designer remains unknown, the level of craftsmanship is exceptionally high and fully consistent with the finest Italian artisanal production of the period. The bench functions equally well as a sculptural object or as a highly versatile piece of furniture: ideal as a bench at the foot of a bed, in an entryway, or as a low seating element in a living space.
The accompanying photos and video highlight the bench’s strong proportions, substantial presence, and refined minimalist character.
