“Sun Head” Ceramic Sculpture by Aldo Londi for Bitossi, Italy, 1970s

Ceramic Sun Head sculpture designed by Aldo Londi for Bitossi Ceramiche in the 1970s, part of the iconic Rimini Blu collection.

Executed in glazed ceramic, this sculptural piece features Londi’s signature vibrant blue tones, with rich textural reliefs and geometric incisions characteristic of his Rimini Blu line. The stylized face—abstract yet expressive—embodies the bold, modernist spirit of Italian mid-century ceramics.

The glaze reveals a spectrum of deep cobalt, turquoise, and marine blues, enhanced by the play of light on its meticulously carved surface. Each piece in this series was handcrafted and uniquely detailed, making every example slightly different and highly collectible.
