A remarkable lighting piece by Pietro Chiesa for Fontana Arte, dating to the 1940s, this large ceiling or wall fixture exudes refined mid-century Italian elegance. Its impressive dimensions (60 x 40 cm with a high/depth of 15 cm) make it a statement piece that can serve as either a ceiling light or a dramatic wall sconce.
The fixture is crafted from a large convex glass plate in Fontana Arte’s signature soft azure blue, an unmistakable hallmark of Pietro Chiesa’s work from this era. The glass is meticulously frosted across most of the surface, save for a 2.5 cm transparent border around the edge. This stunning glass element is secured by a brass plate with a finely threaded brass pin capped by a delicate brass ball—an elegant, final touch to this sophisticated piece.
Featuring four light points, this piece remains in excellent original condition, with an authentic, gently aged patina on the iron plate. Initially white, this backplate has aged to a creamy hue, preserving its vintage charm with visible signs of time. Upon request, our team can re-lacquer the plate to meet contemporary preferences. This untouched gem is an exquisite example of Chiesa’s iconic work for Fontana Arte, seamlessly merging glass and brass in a timeless design.
